Khan Sir vs Roshan Anand Controversy Escalates: Student Protests, Firing Video, Arrests, and Questions Over Police Investigation
Patna Witnesses Major Student Protest Amid Coaching Institute Rivalry
A major controversy involving two of Patna’s well-known coaching institutes has intensified, drawing widespread public attention and sparking large-scale student protests across the city. What initially began as a dispute over credit for successful candidates in the Bihar Police Constable Recruitment Examination has now evolved into a serious legal and political issue involving allegations of violence, gunfire, arrests, and questions surrounding the police investigation.
On Thursday, hundreds of students associated with Gyan Bindu Academy, owned by coaching director Roshan Anand, gathered in Patna to demand his immediate release from jail. Roshan Anand was arrested by Patna Police following an alleged attack on the coaching institute operated by popular educator Khan Sir.
The protesting students marched through the city and assembled at Kargil Chowk, one of Patna’s busiest intersections. Carrying placards and chanting slogans against Khan Sir, the students blocked traffic for a significant period, causing long vehicle queues and disrupting normal movement in the area.
The demonstration included both male and female students who claimed that Roshan Anand had been falsely implicated in the case. Police officials eventually intervened and persuaded the protesters to disperse peacefully, bringing the protest to an end.
Origin of the Dispute: Battle for Credit Over Successful Candidates
According to reports, the root of the controversy lies in the competition between coaching institutes over claiming successful candidates from the Bihar Police Constable recruitment examination.
Several candidates who cleared the examination reportedly appeared on the success lists published by both coaching institutes. This triggered a dispute regarding which institute deserved credit for the students’ achievements.
Education observers and coaching industry analysts have described this practice as a form of commercial competition where institutions attempt to associate successful candidates with their brands to attract future admissions.
The tension escalated further when some successful candidates attended a felicitation ceremony organized by one coaching institute. Soon afterward, disagreements emerged between supporters of the rival institutes, eventually leading to allegations of attacks and violent confrontations.
Violence at Khan Sir’s Coaching Centre
The controversy took a dramatic turn on Tuesday night when disturbances broke out outside Khan Sir’s coaching center in Patna.
Initial reports suggested that a group of individuals had gathered outside the premises, leading to vandalism, stone-pelting, and physical altercations. During the immediate aftermath of the incident, Khan Sir claimed that multiple rounds of firing had occurred during the confrontation.
His statement quickly gained attention and became a major talking point across social media platforms and local news channels.
However, the following morning, Khan Sir modified his earlier position. He stated that he had repeated information provided to him by his security personnel and that he had not personally witnessed any firing. He subsequently claimed that no confirmed firing incident had taken place.
This change in statement generated confusion and prompted further scrutiny of the events that occurred on Tuesday night.
Patna Police Initially Deny Firing Incident
Following the incident, Patna Police conducted a preliminary investigation and maintained that there was no evidence of gunfire.
According to the police’s initial findings, the disturbance primarily involved vandalism, stone-pelting, and physical assault. Authorities proceeded to arrest Roshan Anand and several of his associates in connection with the alleged attack on Khan Sir’s coaching center.
At that stage, the police narrative suggested that no shots had been fired during the confrontation.
The arrest of Roshan Anand triggered criticism from his supporters, who argued that the investigation was incomplete and one-sided.
Emergence of Firing Video Changes the Narrative
The situation changed dramatically when Gyan Bindu Academy released a video allegedly recorded during the Tuesday night incident.
The footage appeared to show two security guards associated with Khan Sir discharging firearms. The release of the video immediately sparked fresh controversy and raised serious questions regarding the accuracy of the initial police findings.
During a press conference, representatives of Gyan Bindu Academy claimed that the video proved that firing had indeed occurred.
They further alleged that Khan Sir had initially accused others of opening fire but later changed his version of events after realizing that his own security personnel were involved.
The coaching institute also claimed that the firing was carried out on Khan Sir’s instructions, although no official evidence has yet been presented publicly to substantiate that allegation.
Police Arrest Khan Sir’s Security Guards
After the video surfaced, Patna Police reportedly moved swiftly to investigate the matter further.
Authorities detained and questioned two security guards employed at Khan Sir’s coaching center. The guards were later arrested after interrogation.
The two individuals have been identified as Pradeep Kumar, a resident of Mainpuri in Uttar Pradesh, and Taleshwar Prasad, a resident of Kasganj, Uttar Pradesh.
Police seized the modified rifles allegedly used during the incident and sent the weapons to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) for detailed examination.
According to police sources, both guards admitted that they had fired shots during the disturbance. However, they claimed that the firing was carried out in self-defense after stone-pelting and attacks occurred near the coaching center.
The guards reportedly stated that they fired warning shots into the air rather than targeting any individual.
Khan Sir Questioned by Police
As the investigation expanded, Patna Police also questioned Khan Sir regarding the incident.
His interrogation came after the emergence of the video footage and the arrest of his security personnel.
The development marked a significant shift in the case because Khan Sir had initially been viewed as the victim of an attack on his coaching center.
Now, with video evidence showing his guards firing weapons, investigators are examining whether additional legal responsibility may extend beyond the guards themselves.
At present, no official announcement regarding Khan Sir’s arrest has been made. However, speculation continues regarding possible future action depending on the outcome of the ongoing investigation.
Questions Raised About Police Investigation
The emergence of the firing video has also generated criticism of the initial police response.
Supporters of Roshan Anand argue that authorities initially dismissed reports of firing despite Khan Sir’s own early claims that shots had been fired.
They question why the police did not discover or acknowledge the firing incident until video evidence surfaced publicly.
Critics have accused investigators of failing to conduct a sufficiently thorough inquiry during the early stages of the case.
Patna Police, however, maintain that all actions have been taken in accordance with legal procedures and available evidence. Officials insist that the investigation remains ongoing and that decisions are being made based on facts rather than public pressure.
Roshan Anand Remains in Jail
Meanwhile, Roshan Anand continues to remain in judicial custody at Beur Jail along with several associates.
His supporters maintain that he has been wrongfully accused and demand his immediate release.
The student protest at Kargil Chowk reflected growing dissatisfaction among his followers, many of whom believe that the investigation should be expanded to include all parties involved in the incident.
Demonstrators repeatedly asserted that Roshan Anand is innocent and alleged that he has become the victim of a larger dispute within Patna’s highly competitive coaching industry.
A Coaching Rivalry Turns Into a Citywide Controversy
What began as a disagreement over successful Bihar Police Constable examination candidates has now transformed into one of the most talked-about controversies in Bihar’s education sector.
The case now involves competing allegations, video evidence, arrests, student demonstrations, forensic investigations, and ongoing police inquiries.
With Roshan Anand in jail, Khan Sir under scrutiny, two security guards arrested, and forensic reports still pending, the controversy appears far from over.
As investigators continue examining the evidence, students, educators, and the public alike are closely watching developments in a case that has exposed the intense competition and high stakes within Bihar’s coaching industry.
The coming days are expected to be crucial as police review forensic findings, analyze video evidence, and determine whether additional legal action will be taken against any of the individuals involved.
